When decay or a crack lets bacteria into the tooth pulp (nerve space), the tooth may throb, hurt on hot or cold, or form an abscess. Root canal treatment (RCT) cleans and shapes the canals, then seals them to remove infection. The tooth is not “dead” in a harmful sense — the crown and root are preserved; most patients keep chewing for years with a good restoration (cap) on top.
Alternatives and limits
Extraction is an option, but you then consider implant, bridge, or partial denture to fill the gap — an RCT plus crown is often the most conservative choice. Very broken teeth, severe bone loss, or poor patient maintenance may still lead to extraction; your dental OPD in Tohana will show X-rays and explain the plan.
Our dental team also supports paediatric fillings, implants where needed, and orthodontics queries. Book or 94668-03877.
